UPDATE! While mooching about on the summit of Ventoux during our Sablet spring residency 2024, the visiting son-&-heir and I stumbled across two precast concrete blocks roughly positioned on the old track, facing north, below the railed summit area: the most unsightly side of the hill, albeit with good views if appropriate weather can be conjured up. We pondered: could these bleak castings be an attempt to counter my assertion above, concerning the singular provision of public seating on Le Géant? Are these lumps set hereat for sitting on? Is this what it has come to? Needless to say no one was anywhere near, let alone sitting on either block – until son-&-heir volunteered to give it a go…… He did not start a trend, and suffered only a short period of discomfort upon relinquishing this inappropriate perch……
